ArmyXI Lucknow shall clash with RCF Kapurthala in the Final

Two leading sports women shall also be honoured

Last year’s runners up RCF Kapurthala shall clash with ArmyXI Lucknow in the final of 25th All India Shaheed Dal Bahadur Durgamal Mal Gold Cup football( AIDDGC) tournament being played at the Police Stadium Dharamsala. In the first semi final on Thursday ArmyXI Lucknow defeated Namcheen club Sikkim by a 14th minute solitary ground goal of S. Vishwas.in the other semi final Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala defeated Himachal Pradesh Football team 3-0. Jagtar of RCF scored the first goal in the ninth minute and the team lead 1-0 in half time. Kapurthala dominated the game and its forward netted two more goals in 49th and 61 minute of the match . The final shall be played on Friday.

17  teams participated   in the 25th All India Shaheed Dal Bahadur Durgamal Mal Gold Cup football( AIDDGC) tournament. secretary of the organising committee AIDDGC, R S Rana said, “the organising committee shall also  honour two Himachali sports girls Miss Dimple, member of hockey team in special Olympics and Sushma Verma Indian Cricket player on the final day.

Dr. Virender Parmar president of organising committee said, “ Beside Gold cup a cash prize of rs 5100 shall be given to the winner and runners up team will be awarded by a cash prize of 3100.”

DFA Hoshiarpur was the winners  while Rail coach factory Kaputhala was runners up team of last year.

This tournament is organized to commemorate the memory of two great Martyrs Major Durga Mal and Captain Dal Bahadur who laid down their lives for our beloved motherland. Both the brave soldiers hailed from Gorkha community of Dharamshala and were enrolled in 2/1 Gorkha Rifles.Later they joined Indian National Army in 1942 raised by Netaji Subhash Chander Bose,when the Second World War was at its peak . Major Durga Mal was captured by the British troops on 27th March,1944 and  was sent to gallows on 25th August 1944 at the Red Fort,Delhi when he was barley 31 years of age.
