Badal condemns incident of acid attack

Chandigarh, March 7-Condemning the incident of acid attack on a school going girl in Gurdaspur on Wednesday, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today announced monetary compensation for victim of this barbaric incident besides incurring the entire expenses on the treatment of acid attack victim.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that, Mr. Badal while expressing solidarity with Ms. Rajinder Kaur the victim of acid attack, said that it was very unfortunate that this hapless girl became another victim of a heinous crime against humanity especially the women. He said that the state government would initiate every step to ensure that exemplary punishment was awarded to the accused involved in such dastardly act. Mr Badal said that such offenders does not deserve leniency and they would be dealt with as per the law of land by meting out the severest of the severe punishment to them so that it could act as a deterrent for others too.

The Chief Minister further said that the state government would extend all sort of cooperation and assistance to the victim’s family in this hour of crisis. Mr. Badal also announced that the state government would incur the entire expenditure on the treatment of severely injured acid attack victim. He also said that financial compensation would be provided to the victim as per the set policy of the state government under which Rs. 3 lakh was provided to the victim of acid attack in case of disfigurement of face and Rs. 50,000/- for other cases and injury.

It may be recalled that the state government has already decided to give a special chance to the hapless girl to appear in the class XII exams to ensure that her result also declared with the rest of her peers.
