Trout processing unit to be set up at Patlikuhl

With a view to bring about an increase in production of trout fish, National Fisheries Board has accorded its approval to set up a Trout Processing Unit with the collaboration of Indian Agriculture Research Council at Patlikuhl in Kullu district, spokesman of the State Government said here today.

He said that this processing centre would process trout fish at an industrial scale so as to increase shelf life of products of trout fish. He further added that this unit at Kullu would be first of its kind in and around 1000 km of area. The production of trout fish would be increased 5 times, said he.

He said that high production of trout fish would enable the trout fish producers to fetch high prices in the market. He said that National Fisheries Board would provide financial assistance of Rs 2.1 crore for the project. The State Fisheries Department had drawn up an ambitious project of 5 lakh kg production of trout fish annually, said he.
