Virbhader Singh announces Sub Tehsil for Tapri and Polytechnic College at Urni

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced Sub Tehsil for Tapri and opening of Polytechnic College at Urni in Kinnaur district.

The Chief Minister made these announcements while addressing a public meeting at Urni after inaugurating the school building of government senior secondary school Urni. He announced to start science classes in this school from next academic session and added that science classes would be started in all government senior secondary schools in a phased manner.

The Chief Minister also announced to upgrade Tapri police post to police station. He said opening of a Polytechnic College at Tapri would facilitate the students of the district who, presently were studying in Rohru or other Polytechnic Colleges. The students would be able to avail the facility of this college from next session.

Shri Virbhadra Singh announced upgradation of  Bari government High school to Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) and Government Middle Schools at Bada Kamba and Choltu to High Schools.

He said it was the need of the hour to change the agricultural  pattern and construct canals to provide water to fields and at Kandas through these pucca canals so that the ground seepage of flowing water could be prevented and landslides be controlled. 

He also stressed for preservation of culture, customs and traditions and added that our customs and culture  were our identity and those civilizations had vanished that discarded their customs and traditions. 

He announced a sum of Rs 15000 each for the school children of GSSS Urni and Mahila Mandal Urni for presenting cultural programme from his discretionary fund. 

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Speaker Shri Jagat Singh Negi said that the development of entire tribal belts of the State was due to present and the successive congress governments. He said that all the villages would be connected with roads and the efforts were afoot to provide road connectivity to all villages. He also placed forth several demands of the area before the Chief Minister and thanked him for upgrading Bari government High school to Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) and Government Middle Schools at Bada Kamba and Choltu to High Schools.

He thanked the State government for re-storing the Nau-Taud sanctions for houseless which was withdrawn during the previous BJP government. He also appealed for extending the time limit  for sanctioning Nau-Taud,  so that the left out landless  could be benefitted.

DCC President Kinnaur, Umesh Negi, DCC President (Women) , Saroj Negi, Tribal Advisory Committee, Members, Ram Singh Negi, Pritam Singh Negi, Jagdish Negi and  Amarchand Negi,  District Youth Congress President, Pratap Negi, Spokesperson, District Congress Surya Boras Negi, General Secretary, District Women Congress Lalita Pancharas, Chairman, Kinnaur Federation (KINFED) , Chander Gopal Negi were also present on the occasion amongst others.
