Western disturbance bring rain and relief to Himachal

Dharamshala (Arvind Sharma ), June 16:Pre-monsoon showers continue to  lash several parts of the state even  today, causing a sharp fall in minimum temperatures at some places.   The weather office in the state say that these  pre monsoon showers are because of   the  Western Disturbance, as an upper air cyclonic circulation over western parts of Afghanistan & neighborhood now lies over Pakistan & neighborhood  extending upto 3.1 km amsl with a trough aloft runs roughly along Long. 650E & north of Lat. 300N.Under its influence an induced upper air cyclonic circulation has formed over Punjab & adjoining NW- Rajasthan & extends upto 1.5 km amsl.

The trough at mean sea level runs from north Rajasthan to west  central Bay of Bengal across Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand & Odisha & extends upto 1.5 km amsl.

Weather office say that such conditions shall continue, till 22 nd of June in the entire state of Hiimachal Pradesh.

 Gohar remains to be wettest with 165 mm of rain in past 24 hours in Himachal followed by  Sundernagar-121, Bijahi-110, Sarkhaghat-81, Paonta Sahib & Dharampur-62, Nahan-58, Mehre-49, Banjar-47, Kasauli & Jhanjehli-46 each, Kahu-43, Karsog & Pachhad-42 each, Solan & Pandoh-41 each, Manali and Sangrah-38mm of rain . 

Rainfall: Gohar-165, Sundernagar-121, Bijahi-110, Sarkhaghat-81, Paonta Sahib & Dharampur-62, Nahan-58, Mehre-49, Banjar-47, Kasauli & Jhanjehli-46 each, Kahu-43, Karsog & Pachhad-42 each, Solan & Pandoh-41 each, Manali and Sangrah-38 each. 

 

Kangra valleyon Wednesday was drenched following heavy rains giving people respite from the scorching heat the valley was experiencing for the last more than a fortnight. Kangra experienced the hottest day of the season on June 4 with mercury touching 41.6 degree Celsius but today’s showers gave much needed respite to the people.

The rains started in the night. In the morning it rained heavily for an hour. The sky was overcast in the valley with clouds since morning and remained so for the entire day.

The valley experienced heavy showers this evening too providing respite from the humid summer. Following the rains temperature experienced a sharp dip. The rains were also experienced in Kangra , Palampur, Dharamsala, Gaggal, Nagrota Bagwan, Mallan and other major towns of Kangra valley.
