1.International Women's Day is observed to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Every year, the day is observed on March 8* with the purpose to support a platform that helps forge positive change for women.

2.The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee on Sunday (March 7) inaugurated the biggest Kidney Dialysis hospital of the country* . The Guru Harikshan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Kidney Dialysis Hospital was opened at Balasahib Gurudwara in Delhi. It will provide free treatment to kidney patients. In addition to this, patients will also be provided free food.🙏🏻

3.Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait  said he would hold a meeting with farmers on March 13 in Kolkata.* 

4. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been requested by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee to campaign for her in the West Bengal Assembly elections* and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will take a decision on this soon keeping in mind the objective of giving a pushback to the BJP's poll prospects.

7. Amid the upsurge in COVID-19 cases in the city, the Aurangabad city in Maharashtra authorities on Sunday (March 7) announced partial lockdown from March 11 and full lockdown on weekends. 

8.The Karnataka bench of the GST Authority for Advance Rulings (AAR) has held that hand sanitisers are not a medicament. As a result, these would be subject to a GST levy of 18%.* Wipro Enterprises had approached the AAR to determine the appropriate classification of hand sanitisers and hence the GST rate. It submitted that the product which contained 95% ethyl alcohol and had obtained a drug licence should be classified under chapter heading 3004. This chapter covers medicaments having a therapeutic.

9.Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the new research building ‘Desikan Bhawan’ equipped with new COVID-19 diagnostic facility* at ICMR-NJIL & OMD (National JALMA Institute for Leprosy & Other Mycobacterial Diseases), Agra in the presence of Director General ICMR & Secretary, Department of Health Research, Prof. Balram Bhargava.


10.In Siliguri: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday  led a padayatra to protest in Siliguri against the hike in the price of LPG cylinders.

12. ISRO to launch Geo imaging satellite on March 28* :  India plans to launch on March 28 an earth observation satellite that will provide it near real-time images of its borders and also enable quick monitoring of natural disasters.


13.PM Modi chaired the Valedictory Session of the Combined Commanders’ Conference at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat on March 6, 2021.* During the three-day conference, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the military commanders and senior officials from the Ministry of Defence participated in deliberations. Jawans and Junior Commissioned Officers also participated in the conference for the first time. The Combined Commanders’ Conference, which is a premier brainstorming event of the military officials, took place after three years.

14. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has constructed a 200-feet bailey bridge on Joshimat-Malari road across the Rishiganga river* , restoring connectivity to the 13 border villages in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district affected by the flash floods in February. The bridge is near Reini village of the district and it was opened for public use.
