Governor urges people to make Yoga integral part of life

The Yoga Day was celebrated here at the historic Ridge where Governor Acharya Devvrat alongwith hundreds of  children from various schools of the town and citizens performed yoga.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has established Yoga at international level and today, the whole world was adopting it. He said our sages, while contemplating the mountains, compiled this science and gave the Yoga to the world which not only balances the soul, mind and intellect but also gives the feeling of happiness and connects the soul with the divine.

He urged the people to make Yoga an integral part of life which has been part of our old traditions and stressed on making it a routine activity to evade negative energy in life. He said that Yoga enhances mental and physical well-being of a person as it is related with nature and one who connects to nature is mentally and physically more healthy. Yoga was the best means to purify mind and soul and without it we can not envisage a healthy body, he added.  

The Governor said that Yoga makes the body healthy and we are able to perform every task only with a healthy body. He expressed happiness that yoga programs were being organized in a big way.

Yoga and meditation training was conducted by Smt.  Urmil Singh and students from Himachal Pradesh University also participated in it.

Earlier, Shri Nand Lal, Director, Satluj Jal Vidut Nigam welcomed the Governor while President, Rotary Club Shimla Shri Manu Aggarwal proposed vote of thanks.

The officials and members of the Rotary Club, journalists, officers and employees of Rajbhawan and other prominent persons of the town also joined the Yoga programme. 

The Yoga Day was organized by Rotary Club Shimla in association with Satluj Jal Vidut Nigam Ltd.
