100 riders from 16 cities for Hero MTB Himalaya

The 6th edition of the Hero MTB Himalaya Shimla 2017, popularly known as Hero MTB Shimla, is all set to kick in from April 14 to 16. What sets apart this year’s Hero MTB Shimla is not just the new hilly, wobbly and adventurous track; but also the participation of myriad of 100 enthusiastic riders from 16 different cities who are the role models for the entire mainstream audience. 

The race takes the riders through some of the most pristine parts of the Shivalik Mountains, also known as the lesser Himalayas or the foothills of the Himalayas. The race is set in a background that calls out to an adventure lover, a mountain biker, a nature lover, and asks them to get embodied in the serene Himalayas. 

Travelling through Wildlife Sanctuaries, Himalayan countryside, streams and rivulets, one experiences everything pure that the Himalayas have to offer. The participants get to meet the most amazing people,  get to stay in the most beautiful locations, eat authentic local delicacies and ride through the best terrain in India. The riders pedal their way through gut wrenching uphill tracks, Speedy downhill tracks, village back roads, beautiful meadows, thick vegetation, jeep tracks and savor real mountain biking as they travel around 120 kilometer in two days.

“Mountain biking as a sport is gaining rapid popularity in India and events such as Hero MTB Shimla have played a vital role in popularizing this sport. It is one of the toughest sports in terms of the need for endurance and skill, and requires a lot of mental and physical strength as well as training, " said Mr. Pankaj Munjal, Chairman and Managing Director, Hero Cycles Pvt Ltd.

“It is a very proud moment for us to see Mountain Biking asan sport and Hero MTB Shimla growing so much. This time it’s not just individuals who will clash with each other but also Cities. We have introduced the City Championship to further foster the MTB culture in India. It gives riders an additional impetus to achieve more,  it is very heartening see good response from all across the country with an representation of 16 cities  ,” said Mohit Sood President HASTPA (Organizing Body) . Tentative Route: 

Day-1  Shimla - Sadhupul - Chail - Sadhupul.

Day-2 -Sadhupul - Junaidghat - Koti - ChiniBungalow - Kufri - Shimla.

Highest Point - 2650m at Chini Bungalow.  Distansce - 120 km.
