Angry Birdies emerge champs in Shillong Golf League

It was the consistency of John F Rymbai owned “Angry Birdies” comprising Jeewan Sharma, Jobeth Chyne, Vikash Agarwal and Mrs Jyoti Agarwal that helped them emerge as the winning team of the 1st edition of Shillong Golf League (SGL) in Shillong Golf Course held over a period of three months from September 10 to November 19.
As many as 17 teams comprising four players each competed in this league which is easily amongst the sterner tests of golf for leisure golfers that rewards consistent golfers over sixc rounds of golf. The 1st runner-up position was bagged by Daniella S Majaw owned “Putt Pirates” comprising Jonathan Iawphniaw,Anil Ram,Master Mohit Subramanium and MJ Lanong.
 The 2nd runners- up trophy was lifted by Siddharth Goenka owned “The Dabangs” comprising of Rahul Bajaj ,Mrs Pooja Goenka , Master Lakshya Bajaj and Jeet Bahadur Chettri.
 Apart from prizes for the top 3 teams, there were prizes for individual performances:
Lowest Gross Score: Gaurav Bajaj; 1st runner-up Rahul Bajaj.
Best Nett (Amateur): Anil Pargal; 1st runner-up Col Manish Prasad; 2nd runner-up John F Rymbai. 
Best Lady Golfer:  Jyoti Agarwal. Best Junior:  Lakshya Bajaj; 1st runner-up  Mohit Subramanium, 2nd runner-up  Siddhanth Singhania.
Junior Consolation: Shaurya Goenka, Reet Bajaj, Deep Bajaj.
Most improved Player: Amit S Baidya. Best Professional: Jeewan Sharma. Most Promising player: Raghav Bajaj
 The event with Shillong Club Ltd. (Golf Section) as Host Club got strong support from other sponsors - Seven Mineral Water,Golf trade,Red Bull,HP to help make this event a success.The event was the brainchild of Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society (MGPS).The prizes were given by Mr AH Scott Lyngdoh (former minister and Director in Incharge Golf,Shillong Club Ltd.).
