Himachal has huge potential for entrepreneurship in Hydro, Tourism and horticulture sectors: CII

CII holds session on Employ-ability & Entrepreneurship

On the sidelines of its Annual Session for 2016-17, CII Himachal Pradesh State Council organised a session on ‘Building Himachal Pradesh for Better Tomorrow’ with the focus on Employ-ability and Entrepreneurship at Parwanoo. 

Mr Mukesh Agnihotri, Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Labour & Employment, Government of Himachal Pradesh, addressed the session, besides eminent panelists from the industry, academia and government officials. 


"Himachal Pradesh Government is doing its best to bring new industries to the state for greater job creation, besides the state government has also implemented Chief Minister Start-up policy to help budding entrepreneurs of state,” said Mr Agnihotri.


Dr Shrikant Baddi, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance and Planning Government of Himachal Pradesh, while addressing the session shared that Himachal Pradesh has highest percentage of Government employee as compared to other states of the Country. He also stressed that the youth must change their mindset towards self-employment. Himachal Pradesh has vast potential for employment and entrepreneurship in thrust sectors such as hydro, tourism and horticulture. State Government is trying its best of its efforts for job creation and has put skilling the youth at high priority. Government has put adequate budgetary allocation for skill development and Entrepreneurship, Dr Baddi said.


Despite financial constraints, the State Government has provisioned good financial incentives under new start-up scheme such as interest subvention and purchase preference for the start ups, said Mr R D Dhiman, Principal Secretary Industries, Labour & Employment, Government of Himachal Pradesh. Mr Dhiman complimented CII for organizing the session.


Mr Sanjay Khurana, Immediate Past Chairman CII Himachal Pradesh State Council while summing up the session complimented the State Government for coming up with the new Start-up policy and said the policy will be very beneficial for budding entrepreneurs of the state and shared that CII will work closely with state Government to foster spirit of entrepreneurship among Himachali youths.
