All internet services are suspended in Haryana

Chandigarh, Aug 24 – Haryana Government has suspended mobile internet services, including 2G, 3G, 4G, CDMA and GPRS, all SMS services and all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except voice calls, in the State for the next three days. Any person found guilty for violation of this order would be liable for legal action.
        While stating this here today, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Mr. Ram Niwas, said that the order had been issued under the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017, to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the State in view of verdict to be delivered by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in the case of Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, on August 25, 2017.   
        “The Haryana Government is taking all necessary steps and measures to maintain law and order in the State by stopping the spread of disinformation and false rumours through various social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter on mobile phones and SMS, for facilitating and mobilisation of mobs of agitators and demonstrators, who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public or private property by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities,” he added.
