HAFED soon to launch Fortification scheme

Chandigarh, Nov 24 - Haryana State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) has decided to launch Fortification of Whole Wheat Flour for commercial use. 
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of the HAFED said that the largest apex cooperative federation of the state had already initiated the process in this direction and the Fortification scheme would be launched shortly. 
          He said that HAFED was also plans to set up a Modern Flour Mill at Jatusana district Rewari. Tenders have been invited to appoint a consultant for preparation of Detailed Project Report to further execute this project. 
          With a view to support the sunflower seed growers in the state, the federation had purchased 8,459 metric tonnes (MTs) sunflower seed at minimum support price (MSP) from farmers during the year 2017 on behalf of National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED), as against the 4,785 MTs in year 2016. 
          The spokesman said that the federation had purchased 19.28 lakh MTs paddy during Kharif 2017 season upto November 15 on MSP which constitutes about 33 per cent of the total paddy procured by all the agencies in the state.
