214 number of community radio stations are operating in the country

Shimla: 28 March 2018: 214  number of community radio stations are  operating in the country at present .This was disclosed by union minister of state for information and broadcasting 
Col Rajyavardhan Rathore (Retd) in a reply to question of Shimla Lok Sabha Member Sh Virender Kashyap and six other Members in Lok Sabha .
He told that  in  Himachal Pradesh (3), Haryana( 9), Jammu and Kashmir (1 )
Chandigarh( 3 ), Punjab( 5 )  Uttarakhand (9 )  community radio stations are  operating in the country .
He said that no  community radio stations are  operating in
Arunachal Pradesh , Goa , Meghalaya, Mizoram ,Nagaland 
Sikkim,   Tripura,   Andaman and Nicobar Islands , Dadra and Nagar Haveli ,Daman and Diu and  Lakshadweep .
He said that highest number of  30 community radio stations are operating in 
Tamil Nadu while one community radio station is operating in  Jammu and Kashmir , Jharkhand states.

 Col Rajyavardhan Rathore (Retd)  told Shimla Lok Sabha Member Sh Virender Kashyap that  357 applicants  have been issued Letters of Intent (LoI) from the Ministry for setting up community radio station in the country  Out of these, 87 applicants have signed GOPA with the Ministry. He said that six letter of intent have been issued for himachal prdesh while only 2  GOPA have been  Signed while in Haryana  (14), Punjab( 08), Jammu and Kashmir( 04) Uttarakhand (04) and  Chandigarh (Nil)  Letters of Intent (LoI) has been issued by the information and broadcasting Ministry 
He told that Ministry, in its effort to strengthen the Community Radio Movement in the country, simplified the process for application to set up Community Radio Station. Ministry also conducted workshops from time to time to create awareness among the stakeholders, provide guidance and support to the applicants. To promote transparency and digitalization, Ministry has also started www.broadcastseva.gov.in, an online portal.
