Vigilance laid trap,arrested Lady pradhan,

second lady in the state held on graft charges

Dharamshala: Within a span of 15 days, another case bribery is registered in Himachal where a lady is involved. In an embarrassing incident a lady pradhan was arrested in bribery case by the district vigilance and anti corruption bureau on Thursday, last week a lady SHO from Jogindernagar police station was arrested red-handed taking bribe from a party.   

Sobha Devi, lady pradhan of the Dohb village in Shahpur block of Kangra district was arrested on graft charges. She was trapped by vigilance bureau on the complaint of a Parveen Kumar who is a ward member of same village. In his complaint Parveen Kumar, had alleged that he had constructed drains and streets in the village. The work was worth Rs 1.27 lakh and the village pardhan had asked Rs 5000 from him for making the payment for the work.

Complainant further alleged that the pradhan also threatened not to allot him another work of constructing retaining wall, streets and drains in village, in case if he will not pay her the demanded amount.

On the complaint of ward member, the vigilance laid the trap and caught the village pradhan red-handed while taking of Rs 5000.

A case under the prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused lady Pradhan of Dohb village and she has been arrested.

Though the ward members are the elected members of village panchayats under the rules they are allowed to work as contractors even in their respective panchayats.
