Administrator holds review meeting with senior officials regarding projects of the city

Chandigarh, July 6, 2018:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh reviewed the Swachh Bharat Mission & Smart City projects in a review meeting held today at UT Secretariat.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Home Secretary, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary & Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation.
During the meeting the Administrator asked the Municipal Commissioner to put all possible efforts to make the city attain the No.1 cleanest city of India rank and also to ensure highest star rating in the MoHUA survey.
The Administrator also reviewed the issues  regarding garbage processing plant, run by JP and directed the Commissioner, MCC to strengthen the solid waste management system. He further asked the MCC Commissioner to explore possibilities for expanding the dumping ground and scientific landfill by this year.
The Administrator further stated to enforce plastic and polythene ban in the city strictly and ensure that  every required assistance from the Chandigarh Administration is rendered in this regard.
While reviewing the smart city projects, the Administrator said that the Smart City Corporation Ltd. should be more effective to expedite the ongoing projects. He further asked the officers to speedup the work on projects such as 24x7 water supply, sewerage treatment and supply of tertiary treated water to each nook & corner of the city and also pan city ICT projects and implementation of public biking system as early as possible.
Additionally a presentation to review the progress of on going project/work in Sports Department was made before the  Administration.
After explaining briefly the administrative and infrastructure set up of sports in Chandigarh, Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS  Secretary Sports shared  how the newly taken sports complexes in Sec 34 & 43 have been developed into centres of excellence in wrestling and badminton respectively apart from other games like Table Tennis, Squash and Swimming. The Secretary Sports also shared that a  local advisory committee has been formed for each such sports complex to get feed back and suggestios for improving further the operationalization of these sports complexes.
Under the flagship programme of GOI “Khelo India” 4 new infrastructure development projects have been decided in sports which have been referred to the Engg. & Planning deptts. for preparing DPR and rough cost estimates. This includes 50M 8 lane swimming pool, synthetic football ground, synthetic athletic track and a multipurpose hall in Sector 42, Chandigarh.
The Chandigarh Sports Council awards the players of Chandigarh who secure any of the first 3 positions at the National level, with National Cash Awards. In the presentation delivered today, the national cash award for the year 2015-16 were cleared for disbursement amounting to Rs. 1,61,45,332/-
The  presentation also highlighted   setting up of  world class Shooting Range in Chandigarh, promotion of Billiards and snookers by way of creating State of Art Billiards ad Snooker facility in sec 19 and certain issues relating to CLTA were also discussed.
The  Administrator directed the officers to improve the infrastructure set up at Table Tennis Hall in Sec 23 and further advised the director sports to take steps towards  online booking and registration facility at all these sports complexes .The Administrator expressed his satisfaction over the works being done and initiatives taken by the Sports Deptt. in providing excellent sports facilities to the residents of Chandigarh as the GOI is committed to promote sports in a big way in the years to come.
Law and Order
The Administrator  further highlighted the importance of crime mapping and Hotspot analysis in cases of scratching in the Tricity and  directed the police officials to eradicate this issue by taking effective measures in coordination with Tricity officials.
Stressing upon the need of effective handling of Public grievances, Sh. V.P Singh Badnore shared that the need of the hour is to address and manage public grievances in a proactive manner. He also emphasized on speeding up the process of recruitment of police constables.
Appreciating the  effort of Community Police wing of Traffic Police, the Administrator applauded the unique ways in which the Police involved citizens by asking them to post videos on any traffic violations on social media platforms. Amazing response was recieved by  citizens that helped the Traffic police in doing 17090 challans.
