Very heavy rainfall warning for next 5-days for districts of Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Shimla, Kangra and Sirmaur in Himachal

“Monsoon was normal over the state during last 24 hours,” said Manmohan Singh  in charge of Meterological department in Himachal today.He added “Rainfall occurred at many places over the state during last 24 hours. Rainfall in mm during last 24hrs recorded today at 8.30hrs was  Shimla-60, Paonta Sahib-51, Sujanpur Tira-42, Baijnath-38, Ghumarwin35, Jubbar Hatti-33, Mashobra-26, Bijahi-21, Sarkaghat-20, Nagrota Suriyan-18, Dharamshala-17, Sundernagar-16, Gaggal-10, Pandoh, Palampur & Kasauli-9 each, Kumarsen & Bharari-8 each and Banjar-7 . But there was no appreciable change observed in Minimum however Minimum temperatures were 1 to 2 deg C above normal and Maximum temperatures were normal.” 

Singh said that today the  Lowest temperature recorded was  at Keylong (Lahoul Spiti)13.4°C and Highest temperature recorded at Una as 36.8°C.

The department made some Weather forecasts & warnings and said that due to the axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Sriganganagar, Alwar, Gwalior, Satna, Daltonganj, Paradip, and thence east-south-eastwards to east central Bay of Bengal and extends upto 1.5km above mean sea level. The trough with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along long. 73º E to the north of Lat 30º N persists. 

“An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over south Haryana and neighbourhood and extends up to 1.5km above mean sea level. Under the influence of these systems, rainfall will occur at many places over the state on 10th July and at most   places on 11th and 12th July   and thereafter again at many place on 13th and 14th July 2018,” said Singh.

He said that Heavy to very heavy  rainfall is likely to occur at isolated paces on 11th and 12th July 2018 over the state, especially in the districts of Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Shimla, Kangra and Sirmaur.

It was also warned that heavy rainfall is  likely to occur at isolated places over the state on 13th July 2018 especially in the district of Una, Solan, Mandi and Kangra. Department predicted that continuous spell of rainfall for next five days may leads to landslide, mudslide and falling of trees in some sensitive areas of the state.
