Nurses from command hospital inducted into army services

Chandigarh 24th December 2018 [Kulbir Singh Kalsi]  Nine probationer nurses of the 50th batch of the School of Nursing, Command Hospital, Chandimandir were commissioned as Lieutenants into the Military Nursing Service by the chief guest Maj Gen Rashmi Datta, Commandant, Command Hospital (WC) at an impressive Commissioning ceremony on 24 Dec 2018.

Lt. Miss Anjana P V won the gold medal for securing first in academics in the batch & all India fifth in merit.  Lt Miss Amritanjanli won the silver medal for being second in the batch & all India seventh in the merit.  Lt Miss Sanju Punia was adjudged as the best all round cadet.  Lt Miss Sobhika S was awarded the best bed side nurse rolling trophy.

Addressing the newly commissioned nursing officers, the General Officer said, “Military Nursing is a highly challenging profession where nurses need to toil hard in all three services and many times in difficult terrains to provide compassionate, comprehensive care to the soldiers and their families”.  Emphasizing that excellence in health care depends upon the quality of nursing care provided, the chief guest called upon the young nursing officers to keep abreast of the latest trends in the health care delivery system in order to ensure optimum well being of the patients.

Commandant, Command Hospital (WC) emphasized that military nursing is the noblest of professions which requires constant selfless  devotion and preparedness to meet the demands of armed forces. Later an oath was administered to the newly commissioned nursing officers.

The School of Nursing at Command Hospital Western Command Chandimandir is an integral part of the hospital.  Till date 773 nursing officers have passed out from this school.  It has an excellent academic track record with 100% result to its credit.
