Bilaspur: 9 January 2019: Impressed by the policies and programmes of the present state government under the able leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, today 21 families of the Gatu Panchayat of Seraj Assembly constituency met Chief Minister here today and announced to quit Congress Party and join the BJP. These include former Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Gatu Jai Singh Thakur, Khem Singh, Jai Singh, Jalam Ram, and Ranjit Rana from Shwan, Sher Singh, Roshan Lal, Gyan Singh, Buddhi Singh, Veer Singh, Tilak Raj and Amesh Kumar from Buga, Sunny Kumar of Kandh, Umag Ram and Narayan Singh of Fraz village, Chan Ram and Gyan Singh of Gatu, Desh Raj of Sharan, Tulsi Ram and Prakash Chand of Karshoot and Surat Ram of Chapalandu. Welcoming all the families to the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Chief Minister said that they would be given full respect by the organisation and their involvement in the party will further strengthen development activities in the area
