Workshop on Lok Sabha elections organized in Akashvani Shimla

  • One lakh 16 thousand new voters registered by Election Commission.

  Casting vote in democracy was right as well as responsibility of every citizen. Every citizen should ensure his or her participation in democcratic process by using franchise. This was stated by Chief Electoral Officer Devesh Kumar while presiding over a State level workshop on Lok Sabha Election 2019 at Akashwani Shimla, today.

Devesh Kumar urged the people of State not to boycott the elections due to any regional problems. He said that Himachal Pradesh had emerged as the top performer in enrolment of new electors and about One lakh 16 thousand new voters have been registered during  past two- three Months.  About 2 Lakh 50 thousand youth have been identified eligible in the State and their registration process will be completed by April 19. He said that the left out youth can register their names in electoral rolls till April 19, 2019.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that on the directions of the Election Commission of India, two polling stations have been set up in each assembly constituency of the state, which will be operated by women only.  Apart from this special arrangements will be made to facilitate specially abled voters. He said that efforts were also being made to increase the vote percentage and the commission's target was to ensure that every voter should come out of his house for exercising voting rights.

Earlier Regional News Head Sanjeev Sundryal welcomed the Chief Electoral Officer in AIR Shimla. He instructed his representatives working in various district headquarters to give priority to all such news related to Lok Sabha elections.

Doordarshan Shimla News Head Nandini Mittal gave valuable tips regarding election reporting to AIR Network reporters. PTI State Bureau Chief Dharmendra Joshi also guided the way for the All India Radio representatives from all over the state regarding Lok Sabha elections. All India Radio representatives from all over the state got valuable information from the Chief Electoral Officer regarding the election related broadcast.
