Chamba: Bobby Singh:10April2015:Illegal activity of felling of trees is going on in Chamba which is the constituency of forest minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri.

In the last few days reports were coming from the Tissa belt of Chamba district, that the forest mafia is cutting the trees and trading the cutting logs to other parts of the state. Earlier also Chief minister has shown his concern over this issue but it seems that there is no one in the state who can challenge the forest mafia.

But the main issue is, the forest minister is from this area only and he is showing no interest over this. Time and again the media highlighted this issue but the minister so far is busy doing other works. Time has come when the chief minister should take appropriate action against those who are involved in this. Strong message shall be pass to all those who are the party of this.

Forest department officials are also sleeping and so far the forest department has taken no quick measures to stop all this.

Forest mafia is working at their own will and they have no fears of the law and order. And why should they when there is no one in Himachal Pradesh to take any stern action against them.

Openly cutting of the tress directly pointing fingers against the forest officials and there is some connection of them with the mafia.

The chief minister earlier in the vidhansabha in 2014 said that throughout his political career he fought against the logging mafia. "If I failed to stop the illegal felling, it will be the biggest failure of my life," "Even if a single tree is cut, with permission too, I feel saddened," he added.( Chief minister satement in Vidhan Sabha in 2014)

When asked the BJP MLA Ravinder Ravi, said that illegal felling has increased alarmingly in Chamba district, the home constituency of Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri.

He alleged that the illicit felling on such a large scale was not possible without political patronage.

For the Preservation of nature, for trees and for environment, the government is responsible for this and government should take quick action against those who are destroying this.
