12-Year-Old Cyclist Arav Bhardwaj Honored by Punjab Police for 1200-KM Journey to Salute Kargil War Heroes
Chandigarh, August 5, 2024** – Special Director General of Police (Spl DGP) Law and Order, Arpit Shukla, paid tribute to the remarkable spirit of 12-year-old Arav Bhardwaj from Haryana, who is currently undertaking an extraordinary 1200-km cycling journey from the Kargil War Memorial in Leh to the National War Memorial in New Delhi. The journey, which began on July 27, 2024, aims to honor the Kargil War heroes on the Rajat Jayanti of Kargil Vijay.
During a special meeting, Spl DGP Arpit Shukla lauded Arav’s patriotic endeavor and presented him with a Punjab Police memento as a token of appreciation. Additionally, Arav received a poster with the impactful message “Say No To Drugs, Say Yes To Punjab,” highlighting his role in advocating against drug abuse.
Arav’s journey, accompanied by his father, covers a span of 13 days and traverses through Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana. Along the way, Arav has paid homage at several significant war memorials, including Zojila, Badami Bagh, and the Punjab State War Memorial. His determination and dedication have not only celebrated the valor of Kargil martyrs but also spread awareness about the importance of drug prevention.
This is not Arav Bhardwaj’s first extraordinary feat. In 2022, as an 8th-grade student at Heritage School, New Delhi, Arav embarked on a 32-day, 2612 km cycle journey from INA War Memorial in Moirang, Manipur to the National War Memorial in New Delhi. This earlier expedition was in commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Arav’s impressive cycling feats underscore his dedication to commemorating national heroes and promoting vital social messages. His journeys serve as a testament to the spirit of patriotism and social responsibility, inspiring many across the nation.
