Resignations Rock Himachal Pradesh Politics: Independent MLAs Step Down, Triggering Political Turmoil
In a significant political development in Himachal Pradesh, three independent legislators have tendered their resignations from the state assembly membership, just 25 days after their return to the state. The resignations were submitted to the assembly secretary in Shimla.
According to sources, Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur Sadar, K.L. Thakur from Nalagarh, and Hoshiyar Singh from Dehra have all stepped down from their assembly memberships. All three legislators handed over their resignations to the assembly secretary in Shimla, with former CM Jairam Thakur also present during the submission.
The membership of these rebel legislators has been revoked in Himachal Pradesh. Consequently, by-elections will be held on June 1 for the six assembly seats of Chhota Bhangal, Dharamshala, Lahaul-Spiti, Barsar, Kutlehar, Gagret, and Sujanpur. With the resignations of MLAs from Dehra, Hamirpur Sadar, and Nalagarh, it is anticipated that by-elections will now be held in all nine constituencies. However, the announcement of elections for the three seats is pending confirmation from the Election Commission.
This turn of events has thrown the political landscape of Himachal Pradesh into uncertainty, signaling potential shifts in power dynamics within the state assembly.
