9 terror attacks within just 38 days, Big concern for Modi Government

In the last 4 months, there has been a concerning surge in terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Jammu region.  The following major terror incidents have occurred since April 2024:

Doda Terror Attack (July 2024)
On July 15, 2024, four Indian Army soldiers, including an officer, were killed in action during an encounter with terrorists in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.[1][4] The encounter broke out when a joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the Dessa area of Doda.[4]

Kathua Terror Attack (July 2024)
On July 8, 2024, five Indian Army personnel were killed in action and five others were injured after terrorists attacked a military convoy in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.[1][4] This was one of the deadliest attacks on the Indian Army in the region in recent months.

Kulgam Terror Attacks (July 2024)
On July 7, 2024, an Indian Army personnel was injured in a terrorist attack on a security post in the Rajouri district. In a separate incident the same day, eight people, including six terrorists, were killed in twin encounters in the Kulgam district of the Kashmir region.[1]

Reasi Terror Attack (June 2024)
On June 9, 2024, nine pilgrims were killed and 42 were injured when terrorists attacked a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.[1][3][4] The bus plunged into a gorge after the attack, leading to the high casualty toll.

Poonch Terror Attack (May 2024)
On May 4, 2024, one Indian Air Force personnel was killed and five others were injured when two vehicles, including one of the IAF, came under heavy terrorist fire in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The search results indicate that in the last 32 months, a total of 48 Indian Army soldiers have been killed in action due to terrorist attacks in the Jammu region.[4] This surge in violence has prompted the Prime Minister to chair a high-level review meeting with the Home Minister and National Security Advisor to assess the security situation and instruct authorities to deploy the full counter-terror capabilities of the armed forces.

The Congress party has also criticized the central government, alleging that 9 terror attacks have taken place within just 38 days of the BJP government’s third term, resulting in the deaths of 12 soldiers and 10 civilians. They have called for a recalibration of the security strategy to effectively counter the threat of cross-border terrorism in the region.

Overall, the search results paint a concerning picture of the deteriorating security environment in Jammu and Kashmir, with terrorists increasingly targeting the Jammu region and causing significant casualties among security forces and civilians. The central government appears to be taking steps to address the situation, but the opposition has criticized the response as inadequate.
