A Historic Ultra Run: A Century of Georgian Spirit

The Centenary celebrations of King George’s Royal Indian Military School (KGIMS), Jalandhar/RMS Chail kicked off with a historic event: the Centenary Ultra Run. This extraordinary feat saw seven dedicated runners cover a distance of 242 kilometers from Jalandhar to Chail, traversing through the picturesque landscapes of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
The Ultra Run was a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Georgian fraternity. It was conceived and executed by 2IC (CRPF) Rajan Raghuwanshi, in collaboration with Brig Harjit Preet Singh, Georgians Association North, and Chail Georgians Association. The event was supported by a dedicated team of support staff led by Adv. Narender Kashyap.
The seven intrepid runners who embarked on this challenging journey were:
- Shri Rajan Raghuwanshi, PMG, 2IC, Chail (Team Leader)
- Shri Rahul Dhiman (Chail)
- Col Krishan Badhwar, SM (Ajmer), Guiness World Record Holder
- Commander Sourav Maiti (Bangalore)
- Shri Sanjay Kumar (Bangalore), Guiness World Record Holder
- Shri Ramanjeet Oberoi (Belgaum), participant of all five renowned international marathons and the oldest runner at 66 years
- Shri Surjeet, Assistant Commandant (Belgaum)
The runners were greeted with enthusiasm and admiration at every stage of their journey. The final leg of the run, from Solan to Chail, was flagged off by Mrs. Veena Gupta, the mother of the braveheart Lt Cdr Shwet Gupta, Nao Sena Medal (P).
The culmination of the Ultra Run at RMS Chail was a momentous occasion. The cadets of the school lined up along the track to cheer the runners as they completed their final lap. The event was graced by the presence of Lt Gen SN Handa, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), Chairman of Georgians Association Delhi. He congratulated the runners and organizers for their incredible achievement and emphasized the significance of the Centenary celebrations.
The Ultra Run was more than just a physical feat; it was a celebration of the rich history and traditions of KGIMS. It symbolized the school’s journey from Jalandhar to Chail and its enduring spirit. The event also highlighted the camaraderie and brotherhood among Georgians, both past and present.
