The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has achieved a significant milestone by securing the mayoral seat in Amritsar Municipal Corporation, further solidifying its base in Punjab. Jatinder Singh Motia Bhatia has been elected as the Mayor, Priyanka Sharma as the Senior Deputy Mayor, and Anita Rani as the Deputy Mayor. This historic win not only highlights AAP’s growing influence in the state but also reflects the trust people place in the party’s vision for progress and transparency.
AAP Punjab President Aman Arora congratulated the newly elected leaders and called this victory a proud moment for the party. He emphasized the responsibility of serving the holy city of Amritsar and pledged to work relentlessly to transform it into a clean, modern, and well-developed city. Arora reiterated that AAP’s leadership will deliver on the promises made in the manifesto, focusing on improving sanitation, sewage systems, and overall infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Jatinder Singh Motia Bhatia expressed gratitude to the party leadership and councilors for their support. He committed to addressing the city’s core issues, including cleanliness and the pressing sewage challenges, as a priority. Bhatia also assured residents of a transparent and accountable administration that will work diligently to meet their expectations.
The election saw strong support for AAP from its allies and independent councilors, reflecting a growing coalition that bolsters the party’s vision for Punjab. This victory marks another step forward in AAP’s mission to expand its grassroots presence and implement its people-centric policies across the state.
However, the victory was not without opposition. Leaders from the Punjab Congress, including President Raja Amarinder Singh Warring and MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, voiced their dissatisfaction with the election process. They alleged that AAP undermined democratic principles and vowed to challenge the results in court. Despite this, AAP leaders remained focused on their agenda for Amritsar’s development, with a clear vision to make governance inclusive and impactful.
This achievement further cements AAP’s reputation as a party dedicated to bringing transformative changes in Punjab. With a focus on addressing local issues and fostering trust among residents, AAP’s leadership in Amritsar serves as a testament to its growing appeal and capability to deliver on its promises.
