Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, took a dig at the newly formed I.N.D.I.A Alliance, attributing their name change to the alleged wrongdoings of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) during its tenure.
Shah questioned the motive behind the rebranding of the political coalition, stating, “UPA ne ghotale kiye, isliye naam change kar diya,” which translates to “The UPA was involved in scams, hence the name change.
The I.N.D.I.A Alliance, which comprises several opposition parties, came together with the aim of presenting a united front against the ruling government in the upcoming elections. The alliance’s leadership had previously emphasized that the name change was a strategic move aimed at resonating with the diverse and dynamic spirit of India.
However, Shah’s comments have sparked controversy and a war of words among the political circles. Members of the I.N.D.I.A Alliance have labeled Shah’s remarks as baseless and politically motivated. Spokespersons from various parties within the alliance have accused Shah of resorting to name-calling and deflection tactics instead of addressing the pressing issues faced by the nation.
