Amritsar, 2025 (Rahul Soni) – The Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police have initiated a pilot project aimed at removing illegal parking and encroachments on four major roads in the city. Municipal Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh held a meeting with Traffic Police ADC Harpal Singh Randhawa and Estate Officer Dharmendra Jeet Singh to discuss the project.
The selected roads for this initiative include Lawrence Road, Mall Road, Majitha Road, and Heritage Street. Aulakh stated that officials from both the Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police would jointly take action to clear illegally parked vehicles and encroachments made by shop owners outside their establishments. The project commenced today, with warnings being issued through loudspeakers to violators.
The Commissioner emphasized that these warnings would continue throughout the day, but enforcement actions would begin tomorrow. He indicated that any items seized from encroached areas would not be returned. The collaborative effort between the Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police will last for one week on these four key routes, after which a similar campaign will be expanded citywide.
ADC Traffic Harpal Singh Randhawa highlighted the negative impact of illegal parking and encroachments on traffic management. He reiterated that this campaign would be ongoing, with immediate action against vehicles parked illegally starting tomorrow. Residents are urged to refrain from parking their vehicles in unauthorized areas.
