Army Jawan Arrested for Allegedly Leaking Classified Information to Pakistan’s ISI

Amritsar,  In a significant development, the Amritsar Rural Police have apprehended an Army jawan on charges of leaking highly sensitive and classified military information to Pakistan-based intelligence agencies. The accused, identified as Sandeep Singh, is a resident of Sardoolgarh and was currently posted at the Nasik Army Camp. He was arrested from Patiala while he was on leave.

This arrest marks the second such operation within three days, as security agencies intensify their crackdown on espionage and cross-border intelligence leaks. Earlier, the police had arrested Amritpal Singh, a resident of Chamba Kalan village in Chohla Sahib, Tarn Taran, for being part of a syndicate engaged in both espionage and cross-border drug smuggling. His interrogation led to the arrest of Sandeep Singh, while another Army jawan, Rajbir Singh, has also been booked in connection with the case. Special police teams have been deployed to track him down and take him into custody.

Authorities have seized three mobile phones from the possession of Sandeep Singh, which have been sent for forensic examination to uncover further evidence. Initial findings suggest that the accused was actively engaged in sharing highly sensitive information, including details on Army movements, ammunition supplies, and the locations of various military units, with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Officials believe this covert operation had been running for the past two years, posing a serious threat to national security.

Further investigations into this espionage network have revealed deeper connections with the drug trade along the India-Pakistan border. In addition to Amritpal Singh, law enforcement officials have arrested two more individuals—Mandeep Singh, also known as Maddy, and Madhav Sharma from Rajasthan. A massive seizure of contraband and illegal items has further exposed the extent of this criminal operation. Authorities recovered 500 grams of heroin, Rs 10 lakh in drug money, a cash counting machine, and a .30 bore pistol from their possession. The vehicle they were using was also impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.

The latest arrests highlight the alarming nexus between espionage and narcotics smuggling, with Pakistan-based handlers orchestrating operations that compromise India’s security. Officials believe these individuals were part of a larger syndicate that not only leaked military secrets but also played a crucial role in funding drug networks operating along the border. The involvement of military personnel in such illicit activities has raised concerns, prompting intelligence agencies and law enforcement to step up their surveillance and crackdowns.

Authorities are now focusing on dismantling the entire network and identifying other possible collaborators. The forensic analysis of mobile devices and digital communication records is expected to provide crucial insights into how classified information was shared and who else might be involved in the operation. The police have assured that stringent legal action will be taken against those found guilty of compromising national security.

With security agencies now closely monitoring potential threats, the case has underscored the ever-present challenge of intelligence leaks and cross-border infiltration. The government and defense forces are expected to introduce stricter protocols and surveillance measures to prevent any such breaches in the future.
