Baddi Perfume Factory Fire: 5 Dead, 4 Missing, Owner Fugitive

A pall of tragedy hangs over Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, following a devastating fire that ripped through a perfume factory on February 2nd. This inferno claimed the lives of 5 individuals, while the search continues for 4 others who remain missing. Adding to the anguish, the factory owner is currently at large, fueling public outrage and demands for justice.

The fire erupted abruptly, leaving little time for escape. A total of 85 people were present at the factory when the flames ignited, and amidst the chaos, 32 individuals sustained injuries after jumping from the first and second floors in a desperate bid to save themselves. The inferno raged for an agonizing 12 hours before being extinguished, requiring the intervention of 11 fire tenders and numerous ambulances.

The human cost of this tragedy is undeniable. Five individuals have succumbed to their injuries, with four victims identified as Pinky (32) from Panchkula, Haryana; Rakhi (23) from Sarai Siddique, Uttar Pradesh; Shashi (19) from Badayun, Uttar Pradesh; and Rehanuma (23) from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Agonizingly, the search for the remaining four individuals – Champa Devi (unknown age) from Chamba, Himachal Pradesh; Kajal from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh; Kajal Bharti from Badayun, Uttar Pradesh; and Kalpana Ahirwar from Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh – continues, leaving their families distraught and clinging to hope.

Amidst the grief and anger, authorities are taking action. The police have registered a case under sections 285, 336, 337, and 304, and the factory manager has been apprehended. However, the factory owner remains elusive, with his last known location traced to Rajasthan. This disappearance has ignited public outcry, raising serious questions about accountability and the prioritization of safety standards.

Further complicating the search efforts, the factory building has been declared unsafe, forcing a temporary halt to operations. This delay has understandably angered and frustrated the families of the missing individuals, who demand a swift and thorough search.

The Baddi perfume factory fire serves as a stark reminder of the crucial importance of adhering to stringent safety regulations in industrial units. This tragedy demands a thorough investigation to uncover the root cause of the fire and ensure such incidents are never repeated. Additionally, bringing the perpetrator to justice and implementing stricter protocols to safeguard workers’ lives are paramount. As the search for the missing individuals continues, the community holds its breath, hoping for a miracle amidst the devastation. This incident demands not only accountability but also a renewed commitment to prioritizing safety and preventing similar tragedies in the future.
