“Betrayed by Defectors, BJP Has No Role in Nadon’s Development: CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu”

Nadon: On Wednesday, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched a vigorous campaign in his assembly constituency, emphasizing that the BJP had no contribution to Nadon’s development. Addressing gatherings in Kitpal, Bhavdan, Kalur, Kohla, Majiyar, Kangu, Batran, Chillyan, Jalari, Bela, Nadon, and Sera, he criticized the defectors from Congress who are now contesting under BJP’s banner, calling them “withered flowers” in the political arena.

Chief Minister Sukhu asserted that these defectors sold out the Congress hand to buy the BJP’s lotus, a move that even BJP workers are reluctant to accept. He reminded the audience that Nadon’s progress has been achieved through the relentless efforts of the Congress party and his leadership, bringing the region into national and international focus. He lamented the stagnation of development projects over the past five years under former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, who he accused of neglecting the area and halting previously approved projects.

Sukhu highlighted that during their initial tenure, BJP and its defectors were more focused on removing the first-ever Congress Chief Minister from Lower Himachal rather than serving the public. He remarked on the rampant misuse of financial power, asserting that those with the backing of the people, divine blessings, and party high command cannot be ousted by traitors. Despite BJP and Jairam Thakur’s efforts, he assured that the Congress government would complete its full five-year term, dismissing BJP’s ambitions as mere daydreams.

Touching upon specific allegations, Sukhu called out BJP MP Anurag Thakur for spreading misinformation about the Jol Sappad Medical College. He clarified that the college was approved on March 3, 2014, with a budget of ₹179 crore during his tenure as Congress President, months before the BJP came into power in May 2014. Sukhu urged Anurag Thakur to verify facts from the assembly records or through RTI, rather than misleading the public about the project. He also criticized Anurag for deceiving people for a decade regarding the railway line project.

Sukhu showcased his contributions to Nadon, such as organizing international river rafting competitions, developing an indoor stadium at Kharidi Maidan, constructing a new shopping complex, and providing RO water to every household. He mentioned ongoing projects like the electric bus depot at Mowal Ghat, a tourism hotel, and the construction of numerous bridges and roads, all budgeted for in the recent allocations. The Chief Minister also touted social welfare achievements, including restoring the Old Pension Scheme, providing ₹1500 pensions to 2.37 million women, offering free education to children of widows until age 27, and ensuring free medical treatment up to ₹25 lakhs for seniors above 70 years.

Highlighting the contrast between people’s power and financial power in the upcoming elections, Sukhu urged voters to support Congress candidate Satpal Raizada in the Lok Sabha elections and mobilize their relatives to vote for Congress in the six by-elections. He stressed that votes for the Lok Sabha would empower him as the Chief Minister, transitioning from local to broader support. Sukhu reassured that the government would continue to serve for the remaining three and a half years, leaving no stone unturned in the state’s development. He dismissed former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur’s aspirations of toppling the government as mere fantasies.

Joining the campaign were Lok Sabha in-charge Anis Ahmed, Block Congress President Captain Prithvi Chand, and local panchayat leaders, all rallying behind Chief Minister Sukhu’s vision for a progressive Nadon and Himachal Pradesh.
