BJP Candidate Rajiv Bhardwaj Outlines Vision for India’s Future Growth
Dharamsala (Arvind Sharma)28/5/24
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kangra Lok Sabha candidate Rajiv Bhardwaj, during a public relations program in his assembly constituency, emphasized the need to advance with a firm resolve to celebrate 100 years of India’s independence as a developed nation. He highlighted the vision set forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transform India into a developed country by 2047, when the nation will mark a century of independence.
Bhardwaj stated that the primary measure of a nation’s development is its economic progress. As of 2024, India’s per capita income stands at approximately $2,700, with a per capita purchasing power potential of around $10,120. He noted that India’s total GDP is $3.9 trillion ($14.6 trillion on a purchasing power parity basis), showcasing the country’s economic strength.
Referring to the Economic Survey of 2018-19, Bhardwaj pointed out that India needs an 8 percent annual growth rate to achieve a $5 trillion economy by 2024-25. Although the COVID-19 pandemic impacted this plan, India’s economic aspirations remain steadfast, focusing on sustainable and inclusive growth. By 2047, per capita income is projected to reach $10,000, and the size of the economy is expected to grow to $20 trillion. This growth trajectory will move India closer to transitioning from a lower middle-income country to an upper-middle-income category.
Bhardwaj reiterated that despite the setbacks caused by the pandemic, the vision for India’s economic future remains strong. The focus continues to be on achieving substantial and inclusive economic growth to ensure that by 2047, India stands as a testament to the aspirations and achievements of its people.
Bhardwaj is facing heavy weight Congress candidate, ex central minister Anand Sharma in current Lok sabha elections and the voting is due on 1 st of June and result on 4 th whereas both are fighting election for the first time.
