BJP Leader Major Vijay Singh Mankotia Criticizes Congress Government’s Performance in Himachal
Dharamsala (Arvind Sharma)21/5/24
Former minister and BJP leader Major Vijay Singh Mankotia, during a press conference in Dharamshala, launched a scathing attack on the Congress government. He criticized the leadership in Himachal Pradesh, stating that the reins of the state have been handed over to someone who lacks both the experience of working and running a government. Mankotia argued that only through Narendra Modi’s leadership can the welfare of Himachal be assured, suggesting that otherwise, Chief Minister Sukhu would end up seeking special favors from the central government.
Mankotia emphasized the need to form a strong BJP government at both the state and central levels, advocating for Narendra Modi’s third term as Prime Minister. He accused the Sukhu government of failing to fulfill its promises and plunging the state into deeper debt. He highlighted that in just one and a half years, the Sukhu government has taken loans amounting to Rs 14-15 thousand crores, increasing the state’s total debt to Rs 86 thousand crores.
He further questioned the Congress government’s ability to deliver on its pre-election promises, such as providing employment to 5 lakh people and giving Rs 1500 to women. Mankotia pointed out the rising unemployment rates and criticized the discontinuation of the previous government’s provision of 125 units of free electricity, while failing to deliver the promised 300 units of free electricity.
Mankotia also accused the Congress government of discriminating against Kangra district, noting that despite promises, Dharamshala has not been developed as the second capital, and the Central University project remains underfunded. He condemned the government’s handling of various projects and accused them of making false promises to the public.
Attacking Anand Sharma, the Congress candidate from Kangra parliamentary seat, Mankotia claimed that Sharma has no real connection to Kangra-Chamba and has only been involved during Rajya Sabha elections. He predicted that BJP’s strong candidate, Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj, would ensure Sharma’s defeat.
Present with Mankotia at the press conference were Kangra-Chamba Lok Sabha in-charge MLA Vipin Singh Parmar, state BJP spokesperson Rakesh Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Kangra-Chamba parliamentary constituency in-charge Sanjoy Chandrabhushan Nag, and Himachal Pradesh BJP’s media co-incharge Advocate Vishwa Chakshu.
