BJP’s Suresh Kashyap Accuses Congress of Involvement in Land Transaction Corruption, Calls for Resignations
Shimla, October 14:
In a strong statement, former BJP President and Member of Parliament, Suresh Kashyap, has alleged widespread corruption within the Congress party, particularly in relation to land transactions. Kashyap claimed that the entire top leadership of the Congress, including figures linked to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is embroiled in unethical land dealings.
This sharp attack comes after a trust, led by Kharge’s son Rahul Kharge, withdrew its application for the allotment of five acres of civic amenity land in Bengaluru, which was meant for a ‘Multi-Skill Development Centre, Training Institutes, and Research Centre’. The withdrawal followed the return of 14 sites to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, after the Lokayukta police registered a case against Siddaramaiah, his wife, and brother-in-law.
Kashyap asserted that these withdrawals are linked to adverse reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and ongoing legal actions. He claimed the moves were made to avoid further embarrassment and legal consequences, calling it a “virtual admission” of wrongdoing. “These leaders have been exposed,” Kashyap stated, adding that the decisions were attempts to escape humiliation during legal proceedings.
During a press conference, Kashyap further alleged that the Congress, once inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave’s “bhu daan” (land donation) movement, is now involved in “bhu harap” (land grab) under the influence of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. He referenced the National Herald case, where both Gandhis are accused of capturing company properties at nominal rates, and reminded that this investigation began before the BJP came to power in 2014.
Kashyap also highlighted similar allegations against other senior Congress leaders, including former Chief Ministers Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, accusing them of land-grabbing practices. “This clearly shows that the entire top leadership of the Congress is involved in corruption involving land transactions,” he remarked, questioning whether those who returned land should resign on moral grounds.
In a final jab, Kashyap said that Rahul Gandhi’s ‘mohabbat ki dukan’ (shop of love) appears more like a land mafia’s shop, emphasizing the BJP’s stance on the Congress’ alleged corrupt practices.
