“Breakthrough in Anti-Social Elements Crackdown: Key Criminal Arvind Kashyap Arrested in Joint Operation by Punjab and UP Police”

CHANDIGARH, August 11:

A significant advancement has been achieved in the ongoing campaign against anti-social elements, driven by the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police, in collaboration with STF Uttar Pradesh, has successfully apprehended the fugitive criminal Arvind Kashyap, alias Pintu, a close associate of mafia leader Dhruv Kuntu. The arrest took place in Ludhiana, as confirmed by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Friday.

Arvind Kashyap was directly implicated in the murder of former MLA Sarvesh Sipu from the Sagri assembly constituency, whose life was tragically cut short in 2013. A reward of ₹1 lakh had been placed on his arrest by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Reportedly, Sarvesh Sipu was fatally shot in broad daylight by members of Pintu’s criminal gang under the instruction of Dhruv Singh Kuntu.

DGP Gaurav Yadav disclosed that the arrested individual, Arvind Kashyap alias Pintu, hails from Chakia Kasrawal in Azamgarh district, Uttar Pradesh, and possesses a lengthy criminal record. He is involved in more than 16 criminal cases encompassing charges of murder, attempted murder, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act.

ADGP AGTF Promod Ban provided insight into the operation, stating that acting on credible intelligence, police units, along with AIG Sandeep Goel, executed a special operation in collaboration with STF UP. This resulted in the successful arrest of Arvind Kashyap alias Pintu within the jurisdiction of Police Station Daba in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Simultaneously, the apprehended individual was a wanted suspect in FIR no. 348/2013, registered under sections 147, 302, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Jiyanpur in Azamgarh district. In this case, seven individuals, including Dhruv Singh Kuntu, were sentenced to life imprisonment on March 16, 2022. However, Arvind Kashyap had managed to evade authorities until now.
