During her visit, she praised the architectural magnificence of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha building and described her experience as a memorable one. Having worked in countries like France, Indonesia, the Bahamas, and Haiti, she expressed her admiration for Punjab’s rich cultural and agricultural heritage.
A major topic of discussion during the meeting was the potential for expanding the export of Punjab’s vegetables and fruits to the United Kingdom and other European markets. Speaker Sandhwan sought Caroline Rowett’s support in facilitating this process to ensure that Punjab’s farmers benefit from global trade opportunities. Highlighting the unique flavors and high quality of Punjab’s agricultural produce, he emphasized that the red chilies of Ferozepur are among the finest in the country and could gain immense popularity in international markets.
The discussion also focused on strengthening agricultural processing in Punjab and uplifting the state’s farming sector. Speaker Sandhwan reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges, particularly stubble burning, which has been a major concern in the region. He stressed that concrete efforts are being made to promote sustainable agricultural practices and modern processing techniques to enhance the global competitiveness of Punjab’s farm produce.
Another key issue addressed in the meeting was the need for greater cooperation to curb illegal migration and immigration fraud. Both Speaker Sandhwan and Caroline Rowett agreed on intensifying collective efforts to tackle these challenges, ensuring safe and legal migration opportunities for people seeking better prospects abroad.
Following the meeting, Speaker Sandhwan invited Caroline Rowett to his home, where he personally showcased the organic vegetables grown in his garden. She was deeply impressed by the lush greenery and high-quality produce, calling her visit a truly special experience. In a gesture of goodwill, Caroline Rowett presented a table calendar featuring breathtaking images of various cities, including the iconic Darbar Sahib in Amritsar. In return, Speaker Sandhwan honored her with a traditional shawl, a special award of recognition, and a basket of organic vegetables from his garden.
