British High Commission and HPCA Delegation Meets Chief Minister to Extend Invitation for Joint Reception

A delegation comprising representatives from the British High Commission and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) had the honor of meeting Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today. Led by Deputy Head of Mission of the British High Commission, Amandeep Grewal, and Political, Press, and Projects Adviser for the UK Government, Rajinder S. Nagarkoti, the delegation extended a warm invitation to the Chief Minister for a joint reception planned in collaboration with the UK and HPCA.

 

Scheduled for the 7th of March 2024 at the Cricket Stadium Dharamshala, coinciding with the commencement of the 5th Test Match between India and England, this reception aims to celebrate the cultural fusion of British and Himachali cuisine. It also serves as a platform to strengthen the bond between the United Kingdom and Himachal Pradesh. Notable dignitaries, including British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, are expected to grace the occasion.

 

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sukhu expressed keen interest in exploring collaboration opportunities with the UK across various sectors, such as green hydrogen, electric vehicles, tourism, and water management. He emphasized the importance of leveraging UK’s expertise for mutual growth and development, highlighting the need for close collaboration between the state government and UK counterparts.

 

Assuring continued engagement, the Chief Minister underscored the significance of further discussions with the UK delegation to explore potential collaborations in depth. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that Himachal Pradesh maximizes its potential through strategic partnerships with the UK.

 

Director of HPCA, Surinder Thakur, also extended a gracious invitation to the Chief Minister to witness the thrilling Test Match between India and England. This gesture reflects the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship shared between the two nations.

 

In conclusion, the meeting between the Chief Minister and the delegation from the British High Commission and HPCA marks a significant step towards fostering stronger ties and exploring collaborative opportunities between Himachal Pradesh and the United Kingdom.
