C-Vigil App Receives 12,011 Complaints of Model Code of Conduct Violations in Haryana, 11,122 Found Valid: Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal

Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer, Pankaj Agarwal, revealed that the C-Vigil app has become an effective tool in addressing violations of the Model Code of Conduct during the ongoing assembly elections. From August 16 to September 22, 2024, the app received a total of 12,011 complaints regarding code violations, out of which 11,122 were found valid upon investigation. The C-Vigil app allows citizens to upload audio, video, and photos related to violations, ensuring transparency and quick action in real-time. The unique feature of the app is its promise to resolve complaints within 100 minutes of submission, enhancing the election process’s fairness and accountability.

District-wise data shows a high number of complaints from several regions, with Faridabad receiving 2,873 complaints, followed by Sirsa with 2,093, and Gurgaon with 1,585 complaints. Other districts like Rohtak, Ambala, and Jhajjar also reported significant numbers. The Chief Electoral Officer emphasized that returning officers and assistant returning officers have verified these complaints and taken appropriate action in accordance with election laws. This initiative highlights the public’s active involvement in ensuring fair elections by reporting any violations they observe, contributing to the transparency of the democratic process.

Pankaj Agarwal also explained that any individual, political party, or concerned citizen can register complaints related to the Model Code of Conduct through the C-Vigil app at any time during the election period. The app, accessible to all, enables election officials to closely monitor activities, ensuring prompt corrective measures wherever violations are reported. This app has empowered citizens to be vigilant and report any irregularities, helping maintain the integrity of the elections. The Haryana Election Commission continues to encourage active participation from the public, urging them to use the C-Vigil app to hold the election process accountable and fair for all parties involved.
