CBI Arrests Haryana Police Inspector and Middlemen in Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an inspector of Haryana Police, Balwant Singh, along with two middlemen, Harpal Singh and Janendar Singh, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The arrest followed a complaint by an individual who accused Inspector Singh of demanding Rs 50 lakh to avoid implicating him in an ongoing investigation. The complainant reported that after negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs 5 lakh.

The CBI conducted a trap operation in Chandigarh, where the middlemen were caught receiving the bribe on behalf of the inspector. Subsequently, Inspector Singh was also apprehended during the operation. All three accused have been arrested and are set to appear in a special CBI court in Chandigarh for further proceedings.

Following the arrests, the CBI conducted searches at the residences and offices of the accused, recovering significant incriminating documents related to the bribery case.
