Chandigarh Celebrates 8th National Ayurveda Day and Dhanwantry Day with Free Health Camp and Medicinal Plant Exhibition

On November 10, 2023, the AYUSH Department, Chandigarh Administration celebrated the 8th National Ayurveda Day and Dhanwantry Day at the AYUSH Health & Wellness Centre in Sector 24B, Chandigarh.

The event was graced by Shri Ajay Chagti, IAS, Secretary Health, as the Chief Guest. Shri Akhil Kumar, DANICS, Additional Secretary Health-cum-Director AYUSH; Dr. N.S. Bhardwaj, Joint Director (Ayurveda); Dr. Manju Shree, Assistant Director (Homoeopathy); Dr. Rajiv Kapila, Senior Ayurvedic Physician; Dr. Aarti Verma, Senior Ayurvedic Physician; and Dr. Anantjot Kaur, Senior Ayurvedic Physician, along wit

h other staff of the AYUSH Department, also participated in the celebration.

During the event, a worship of Lord Dhanwantry, a Hawan ceremony, and an AYUSH Health Camp were organized. A medicinal plant exhibition was also held, where free medicinal plants and Homoeopathic & Ayurvedic medicines were distributed. Awareness regarding various AYUSH Public Health Programmes under the National AYUSH Mission, such as KARUNYA (AYUSH Palliative Services), VAYOMITRA (AYUSH Geriatric Health Care Services), AYURVIDYA promotion of Healthy Lifestyle through AYUSH for school children in 300 schools, SUPRAJA (AYUSH Maternal & Neo-natal Intervention), and the National Program for Prevention and Management of Osteoarthritis & other Musculoskeletal Disorders, was also generated. About 200 people, including AYUSH staff, participated in the event.
