Notice: The District Magistrate of Chandigarh has issued an order to ensure public safety. Here’s what you need to know:
- Reason: Authorities are concerned about potential threats from unidentified individuals staying in hotels, restaurants, guest houses, etc.
- Order: Starting May 12, 2024, all such establishments in Chandigarh must:
- Deny stay to anyone without proper identification.
- Maintain a register with guest details (name, address, phone number, ID proof details, signature).
- Accept valid IDs like Aadhaar card, voter ID, ration card, driving license, passport, or credit card with photo.
- Validity: This order is in effect for 60 days, until July 10, 2024.
- Penalty: Failure to comply may result in action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
