Chandigarh Police cracks down on illicit liquor, drug peddling and burglary
Chandigarh Police on Friday arrested three people for illicit liquor possession, consuming liquor at public place and drug possession.
In the first case, Amit Kumar was arrested from near Sheetla Mata Mandir in MDC with 82 quarters of country made liquor in his possession. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against him.
In the second case, Vijay was arrested from near Post Office in Sector-19 for consuming liquor and creating nuisance in public. A case under the Punjab Police Act and IPC has been registered against him.
In the third case, Ashok Kumar Vishundev Mahtoward was arrested from near Ziri Mani Chowk with 985 grams of charas in his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against him.
In addition, Chandigarh Police is also investigating a case of burglary reported by Pawan Kumar Garg, a resident of Sector-44/A. Garg reported that an unknown person stole Rs 1.80 lakh, his voter card and senior citizen card from his house on September 29. A case under IPC sections 380 (theft) and 454 (house-breaking) has been registered in this case.
