Chandigarh Students Form Human Chain to Raise Awareness About Drug Abuse

1000 students from the Education Department formed a human chain formation on “Chandigarh Will Vote” and “Chandigarh Say No To Drugs” at Rose Garden in Sector-16, Chandigarh. The event was organized by the Election Department, Department of Social Welfare, and Department of School Education to raise awareness about drug abuse and the upcoming special summary revision of 2024. Home Secretary-cum-Secretary, Social Welfare, Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, was the Chief Guest. He was joined by the Guest of Honor, Finance Secretary-cum-Chief Electoral Officer, Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade; the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Sourabh Arora; and the Director, Social Welfare cum Nodal Officer SVEEP. All the dignitaries participated in the signature campaign and released a balloon with the message to participate in the election and stay away from drugs. As part of the Special Summary Revision of 2024, the Election Department published the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll w.r.t. 1st January, 2024, as the qualifying date, on October 27, 2023. Chief Electoral Officer, U.T. Chandigarh, urged all citizens to check their credentials in the electoral roll with the help of the Voter Helpline App, Voters.eci.gov.in, and by visiting the ceochandigarh.gov.in website. If your name is not in the electoral roll, you can register yourself through the Voter Helpline App or voters.eci.gov.in by filing Form 6 online. You can also register yourself as a voter from October 27, 2023, to December 9, 2023, to file claims and objections. During the program, the audience took a pledge on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug Free India Campaign) and Chandigarh will vote on 27th October 2023.
