Chief Minister Criticizes Former MLA Hoshiar Singh, Urges Support for Congress Candidate Kamlesh Thakur
In a fervent campaign for Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu criticized former independent MLA of Dehra, Hoshiar Singh, for joining BJP, claiming that a “sold lotus” will not bloom. Addressing public meetings in Chaplah, Chanaur, Kanol, Baddal, and Beh Donta, Sukhu argued that even BJP workers are dissatisfied with Hoshiar Singh’s candidacy, urging them to vote for Thakur to preserve democracy. Sukhu emphasized that this election transcends party lines, framing it as a battle between Congress and a compromised MLA.
He reminded the audience that the people of Dehra elected an independent MLA 15 months ago, who then defected to the BJP, prioritizing personal gain over public service. Sukhu highlighted the impracticality of Hoshiar Singh’s potential victory, given the Congress’s majority in the state. He detailed the substantial developmental initiatives underway in Dehra, including the establishment of a new SP district, a PWD office, and a Rs 680 crore Zoological Park in Bankhandi, which is expected to generate 2000 jobs.
Sukhu also outlined the government’s efforts to support employees, such as implementing the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and increasing women’s pensions to Rs 1500 per month. He reiterated the commitment to continue developing Dehra, promising more offices and asserting that the people will witness significant progress within a year.
The Chief Minister lambasted Hoshiar Singh for betraying public trust, accusing him of trading his integrity for BJP incentives. He stressed that this defection marks a historical low in Himachal politics, where an independent MLA prioritized personal gain over public service. Sukhu urged voters to reject Hoshiar Singh and support Kamlesh Thakur to ensure consistent development and governance.
Sukhu concluded by highlighting Kamlesh Thakur’s capabilities, positioning her as a pivotal figure for Dehra’s future. He appealed to voters to utilize the July 10 election to reject Hoshiar Singh and endorse Thakur, promising significant regional transformations if Congress secures a victory. He emphasized that Kamlesh’s victory would have a positive ripple effect on neighboring constituencies like Jaswan Paragpur and Jwalamukhi.
Key figures, including Election In-charge Chaudhary Chandra Kumar, MLA Rakesh Kalia, and Kangra District President Karan Singh Pathania, supported the campaign. Former MLA Yograj, Chairman Nardev Kanwar, and other dignitaries also attended, reinforcing the collective effort to secure a Congress victory in Dehra.
