State to Plant 15 Million Trees This Year
Chandigarh, July 21** – Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the critical role of tree planting in maintaining environmental purity, urging everyone to plant at least one tree. More trees mean a cleaner environment.
On Sunday, during Guru Purnima at Radha Swami Dera Sikandarpur in Sirsa district, the Chief Minister inaugurated the “A Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign aimed at environmental conservation and pollution control. Joined by Dera Radha Swami volunteers, they collectively planted 20,000 saplings, sending a strong message against pollution.
Chief Minister Saini lauded Dera’s participation in such noble causes, highlighting their contributions to both humanity and environmental conservation. He stressed the importance of trees in maintaining fertile land for agriculture, advocating for the development of forests and protection of trees to combat rising temperatures caused by deforestation.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over environmental imbalance, highlighting that a cleaner environment directly contributes to healthier individuals, who in turn can better contribute to the nation’s progress.
Government Initiatives:
To further environmental conservation, the Haryana government will appoint 50,000 Forest Friends. These volunteers will be responsible for planting and maintaining trees, receiving ₹20 per tree. Additionally, under the “A Tree in Mother’s Name” scheme, they will receive ₹10 per tree for maintenance.
On June 5, World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “A Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative in Delhi, emphasizing the need to honor both our biological mothers and Mother Earth by planting trees in their names.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed Haryana’s commitment to creating a greener, pollution-free state under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi. He called for every family to plant at least one tree, suggesting that trees be planted to commemorate special occasions, thus contributing to environmental protection.
Target for This Year:
This year, the Haryana government aims to plant 15 million trees through various campaigns like Har Ghar Hariyali and Paudhagiri, ensuring public participation and monitoring tree growth to expand forest cover in the state.
Support and Participation:
State Transport Minister Shri Aseem Goel, considering the tree plantation drive a social movement, praised Dera’s initiatives for humanity and environmental conservation. He encouraged people to actively participate in the “A Tree in Mother’s Name” scheme, contributing to a greener, pollution-free future for coming generations.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including Energy Minister Shri Ranjeet Singh, former MP Dr. Ashok Tanwar, Mrs. Sunita Duggal, former MLA Ramchandra Kamboj, Radha Swami Dera’s Zonal Secretary Sardar Gurminder Singh, and Regional Secretary Dharmendra Goswami, among many others.
