Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu distributes Rs 31 crore financial assistance to 3800 disaster affected people of Mandi district
On October 22, 2023, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu distributed Rs 31 crore financial assistance to 3800 disaster affected people of Mandi district. This is the first installment of the state government’s relief package for the victims of the recent floods and landslides.
The Chief Minister also announced a number of other measures to help the affected people, including:
- Enhancing the compensation for completely damaged houses from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.
- Providing Rs 3 lakh each as the first installment for reconstruction of completely damaged houses.
- Increasing the compensation for damage to shops and dhabas from Rs 25 thousand to Rs one lakh.
- Increasing the compensation for the loss of cow shed from Rs 3 thousand to Rs 50 thousand.
- Increasing the amount of Rs 2500 being given to tenants for the loss of their belongings by 20 times and providing an assistance amount of Rs 50 thousand.
- Increasing the compensation amount given for the loss of agricultural and horticulture land from Rs 3615 per bigha to Rs 10,000 per bigha.
- Increasing the amount given for the damage to crops from Rs 500 per bigha to Rs 4000.
- Increasing the financial assistance given for removing silt from agricultural and horticultural land from Rs 1384.61 per bigha to Rs 5000.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new Police Station (Vigilance) in Mandi, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 6.43 crore.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to helping the disaster affected people and has created an Aapda Rahat Kosh in which a historic Rs 230 crore have been contributed by the various organizations and individuals. He said that the state government is also working to ensure that the affected people are able to reconstruct their homes and businesses as soon as possible.
The Chief Minister’s announcements have been welcomed by the people of Mandi district, who have expressed their gratitude to the state government for its prompt and effective response to the disaster.
