Chief Minister Vows to Honor Martyrs’ Dreams and Tackle Inherited Issues

Isadoo, Ludhiana, August 15:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving long-standing challenges inherited from previous administrations in order to realize the aspirations of the nation’s martyrs and freedom fighters. Addressing a public gathering on the occasion of Martyrdom Day, which commemorated the sacrifice of Goa’s freedom fighter Karnail Singh Isadu, the Chief Minister underscored the need to address issues that have hindered progress.

In his address, Chief Minister Mann highlighted that past governments had provided refuge to criminal elements, fostering corruption and drug addiction. He stressed that his administration was dedicated to eradicating such problems that have plagued the state. Mann asserted that the government had already taken steps to eliminate corruption at its root and expressed determination to confront the drug crisis through a multi-faceted strategy, involving youth engagement in sports and dismantling drug supply networks.

Chief Minister Mann applauded the government’s initiative to rename institutions after national heroes, such as Mohali International Airport named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Halwara Airport after Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha. He emphasized the importance of preserving their legacies and inspiring the youth to serve the nation selflessly.

Mann also advocated for awarding the ‘Bharat Ratna’ to martyrs like Shaheed Udham Singh, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, and Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, considering their immense sacrifices for the nation’s freedom. He believed this recognition would enhance the prestige of the award and honor their unparalleled contributions.

Paying tribute to Martyr Karnail Singh Isadu, Chief Minister Mann praised his role in liberating Goa from Portuguese imperialism, expressing gratitude for the sacrifices made by this national hero. He regretted that past leaders had not given proper attention to such significant figures.

While addressing the stance of former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Mann criticized opportunistic leaders who prioritized personal interests over the state’s welfare. He accused them of disregarding the sacrifices of martyrs like Shaheed Bhagat Singh and aligning with colonial powers.

The Chief Minister concluded by highlighting the Aam Aadmi Party’s commitment to the state’s welfare and its dedication to upholding the legacy of national heroes. He honored Charanjit Kaur, the wife of Martyr Karnail Singh Isadu, during the event.

The gathering marked a poignant tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs and reiterated the government’s commitment to overcoming challenges and fostering a better future for Punjab.
