Clash Between Gangs at Central Jail Gurudaspur Leaves Officials Injured, Security Reinforced

A violent altercation erupted between two gangs at Central Jail Gurudaspur, thrusting the facility back into the spotlight. This morning, clashes between two gangs resulted in injuries to a Subordinate Health Officer (SHO), a police department photographer, and another staff member due to flying bricks and stones. The injured were promptly admitted to Gurudaspur Civil Hospital for treatment. According to sources, besides resorting to firing, the police are also using tear gas shells to control the inmates.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a significant number of officials, including Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agrawal, SSP Dayama Harish Kumar, ADC Subhash Chandra, along with a large contingent of police forces from Pathankot, Batala, and Gurudaspur, including CRPF personnel, rushed to Central Jail Gurudaspur. Additionally, two fire brigade vehicles and riot control vehicles were dispatched, accompanied by a considerable number of personnel, to reinforce security at the central jail.
