Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu virtually interacted with 17 children from Aparajita Bal Ashram, Bhaged (Bilaspur district), during their two-day educational and recreational tour. The children, currently at the Wagah Border after witnessing the Beating Retreat ceremony, are set to visit prominent sites, including Amritsar, the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, and Science City Kapurthala, before concluding their trip on January 24.
During His interaction from Dharamsala, CM Sukhu spoke warmly with the children, emphasizing that the state government considers all orphaned children as its own, referring to them as “Children of the State.” He assured them of continued care, quality education, and opportunities for recreational activities, adding, “You are like family to me.”
Children Share Their Experiences
Eight-year-old Ajay shared his excitement about the parade at the Wagah Border, calling it a fun and memorable experience. Another child, Krish Kumar, said the event inspired him to aspire to join the BSF. Sagar, traveling for the first time, expressed joy and gratitude for the opportunity to explore new places.
The CM asked about their plans for the next day, and the children shared their excitement about visiting the Golden Temple. He also inquired about their accommodations, ensuring they were comfortable, noting that the government ensures children are accommodated in three-star hotels during such trips.
Broader Initiative for Educational Tours
The Chief Minister highlighted that the initiative to send orphaned children on exposure visits aims to foster their holistic development and provide firsthand insights into India’s cultural and historical heritage. He mentioned that 22 children from Shimla district recently returned from a 13-day trip to Goa and assured similar tours would be organized for children from other districts.
Acknowledgment to BSF Officers
CM Sukhu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the BSF officers at Wagah Border for their warm hospitality and arrangements, ensuring a memorable experience for the children.
