PM Modi Releases 19th Installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Haryana Farmers Receive ₹360 Crore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today disbursed the 19th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme from Bhagalpur, Bihar, transferring financial assistance directly into the bank accounts of farmers across the country. Under this initiative, ₹360 crore has been deposited into the accounts of 16.38 lakh farmers in Haryana. To mark this occasion, a state-level farmers’ felicitation ceremony was organized in Jhajjar, where Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended as the chief guest. Additionally, similar ceremonies were held across all districts, attended by cabinet and state ministers. Farmers across the state listened to the Prime Minister’s address live, reinforcing the government’s commitment to their welfare.
During his address, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini urged farmers to embrace innovation and modern agricultural techniques to make farming more profitable. He encouraged them to take control of their own marketing strategies to increase revenue and emphasized the significance of organic and natural farming. By utilizing available resources efficiently and taking advantage of government schemes, farmers can strengthen their financial stability. Highlighting the direct benefit received by Jhajjar farmers, the Chief Minister announced that ₹17.41 crore had been transferred to 77,000 farmers in the district. Over the past 18 installments, nearly 20 lakh farmers in Haryana have received a total of ₹6,203 crore under the scheme.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the multiple schemes launched by the central government to support farmers financially and make agriculture more profitable. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, launched on February 24, 2019, provides an annual financial aid of ₹6,000 to small and marginal farmers in three equal installments. Other schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Card Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana, Livestock Insurance Scheme, Soil Health Card Scheme, and the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana have been introduced to improve agricultural sustainability and farmer well-being.
Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047 focuses on four key pillars: farmers, the poor, women, and youth. Recognizing that agricultural prosperity is essential for national progress, both the central and Haryana governments are working towards the holistic development of the farming sector. The implementation of these schemes reflects the commitment of the “double-engine government” towards rural and agricultural advancement. The Chief Minister highlighted that before 2014, India’s agricultural budget was ₹24,000 crore, which has now increased to ₹1,26,000 crore under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Over the last decade, numerous policies have been introduced to integrate farmers with modern technology, improve productivity, and ensure they receive fair prices for their produce. The Namo Drone Didi scheme has revolutionized farming by enabling efficient spraying of pesticides and fertilizers, benefiting farmers significantly.
The Haryana government is also promoting natural and organic farming through the “Natural Farming Portal,” where nearly 24,000 farmers have registered. Currently, 10,000 farmers are cultivating crops naturally on 15,170 acres of land. To educate progressive farmers, training centers have been established in Gurukul Kurukshetra, Gharaunda Karnal, Hameti Jind, and Mangiana-Sirsa.
Haryana has become the first state in India to procure 24 different crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Through the e-Kharid portal, the government has directly transferred ₹1.25 lakh crore to 12 lakh farmers over the last nine procurement seasons. In response to delayed monsoons last year, which increased farming costs, the government provided a ₹2,000 per acre bonus to every farmer, amounting to ₹1,345 crore in financial relief. The government has also implemented policies to protect tenant farmers and landowners, ensuring smoother agricultural land lease agreements and reducing disputes. Farmers occupying Shamlat land for over 20 years have been granted ownership rights, securing their livelihoods.
The Haryana government has introduced a compensation policy for farmers whose land is affected by high-tension electricity lines. Under this scheme, landowners receive 200% of the market rate for tower-affected areas and 30% for land beneath the transmission lines. Additionally, to promote water conservation, the “Mera Pani Meri Virasat” scheme offers ₹7,000 per acre incentives to farmers who cultivate alternative crops instead of water-intensive paddy. This initiative has already benefited 1.29 lakh farmers, with ₹148 crore deposited in their accounts.
These initiatives showcase the Haryana government’s commitment to empowering farmers, making agriculture more profitable, and ensuring sustainable rural development in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a prosperous India.
