CM Sukhu Announces Rs. 2415 Crore Investment to Boost Himachal Tourism Infrastructure and Adventure Activities

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the importance of tourism as the backbone of Himachal Pradesh’s economy while reviewing projects of the Tourism Department. He announced a significant investment of Rs. 2415 crore to enhance and develop the state’s tourism infrastructure, ensuring better facilities for tourists and contributing to the region’s economic growth.
The ambitious plans include the development of Shiv Dham in Mandi district with an outlay of Rs. 150.27 crore and the beautification of Baba Balak Nath Temple in Hamirpur district at a cost of Rs. 51.70 crore. Additionally, Rs. 78.09 crore will be spent on the beautification of Nagrota Bagwan and Palampur towns in Kangra district. Wellness centers will be established in Nadaun, Nagrota Bagwan, Kullu, and Manali at a combined cost of Rs. 280.39 crore. The conservation and restoration of Naggar Castle in Kullu district will be carried out with an allocation of Rs. 8.64 crore.
The Chief Minister underlined the government’s focus on promoting adventure tourism, with plans to construct a rafting complex in Nadaun and establish ice skating and roller skating rinks in Manali, Dharamsala, and Shimla, with an estimated investment of Rs. 163.50 crore.
To improve air connectivity, heliports are being developed across the state, with CM Sukhu instructing the Tourism Department to expedite operational authorizations from DGCA for heliports in Sanjauli, Rampur (Shimla district), Kangani Dhar (Mandi district), and Baddi (Solan district). The government is also exploring the establishment of drone stations and has directed the introduction of seven-day flight operations on the Dharamsala-Shimla route.
Highlighting tourism and power generation as priority sectors, the Chief Minister expressed the government’s commitment to tapping the state’s potential to maximize benefits. He noted a substantial increase in tourist inflow due to the government’s proactive efforts, significantly bolstering the state’s economy.
Chairman HPTDC Raghubir Singh Bali offered valuable suggestions to enhance the tourism sector, while senior officials, including Principal Secretary Tourism Devesh Kumar and Director Tourism Vivek Bhatia, participated in the meeting. This comprehensive plan underscores the government’s dedication to positioning Himachal Pradesh as a premier destination for both leisure and adventure travelers.
